Eighteen Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellows Graduate, Embark on New Missions
On July 27, Hiring Our Heroes hosted the graduation of the HOH Corporate Fellowship Program (CFP)’s National Capital Region summer cohort at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The 18-member class was congratulated Shannon DiBari, the Chamber’s chief operating officer, as well as Crystal Cochran, senior manager of the CFP for the National Capital Region.
The HOH CFP launched in the National Capital Region in 2016 in partnership with the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation and Lockheed Martin. Nationwide, in coordination with over 150 companies, Hiring Our Heroes operates 12 fellowship sites across the United States, from which more than 500 fellows have graduated since the program’s inception in 2015.
The CFP provides participants with a three-month fellowship that includes management training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. All locations of the program are open to active duty service members who are within six months of transition, and at select locations the program includes veterans and military spouses as well.
The program yields a remarkable mutual benefit: companies get to test-drive an exceptional potential veteran hire for free, and fellows get an unparalleled taste of the professional world and new career skills. The quality of the fellows, combined with our effective matching process, results in a tremendous 80% hire rate for fellows. What’s more, the jobs these fellows land in aren’t just any jobs—the average starting salary is $70,000.
