‘Fast Track’ Tool Connects Veterans With Hottest Jobs
Service members transitioning to the civilian workforce have a new tool to help connect their skills with the nation’s hottest jobs.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes program has launched the latest version of Fast Track, a digital tool that offers comprehensive guides to the fastest growing industries and job markets.
“Many veterans struggle with their transition because they are uncertain of good civilian job opportunities or how their military skills may be useful for those opportunities,” said Eric Eversole, vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and president of Hiring Our Heroes. “This tool helps them understand what they learned in the military, what skills or training they still need, and what paths to success in a growing industry look like.”
Fast Track, located online at fasttrackforheroes.org, features an industry-based heat map with a live feed of job listings provided from the National Labor Exchange.
Currently, there are six “tracks” highlighting opportunities in growing industries including trucking, manufacturing, oil and gas, financial services, insurance, and entertainment and media. All of the tracks are powered by corporate sponsors from those industries. Through FastTrack, service members can match their skills with those industries that are seeking to find talented workers.
Fast Track offers access to more than two million job postings. But just as importantly, it includes information on what a service member might need to do to land his or her dream job. Fast Track includes guidance about degrees, certificates and licenses, and can also get advice on where to find relevant training while still in the military.
